COVID-19 Response
Posted 04/06/2020
This is a challenging time for nonprofit organizations, especially ones delivering essential emergency services, like MMWC. We rely heavily on donations to maintain operations, even more so now during this crisis and we are calling for more support amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In terms of donations, we kindly ask for them to be limited to new items at this time as we continue serving the most vulnerable in our communities, particularly individuals and families experiencing homelessness due to domestic abuse. MMWC recognizes that many will be stretched thin financially, but for those who are not, we hope you will pull together to support not only us, but other organizations in our area that rely on the generosity of others. We humbly ask you to consider donating any of the following items as our organization will experience a substantial hardship: -Gloves and masks -Bleach and other cleaning supplies -Antibacterial soap -Hand sanitizer -Toilet paper -Paper towels -Personal hygiene products -Non-perishable food items -Stamps -Dial-A-Ride Tickets -Used/refurbished cell phones -Any donations of cash or in-kind support to make these items available It is important to remember to embrace what we do have during this time – getting outdoors, music, family, reading, singing, laughing, each other and hope. If you hear anything of concern or if you have a question, please call our Domestic Violence Shelter at (218) 828-1216, our Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center at (218) 828-0022 or contact the Health Department hotline directly.
